Timeline in Art

Class assignment: to make a timeline of Art from the Stone Age to today. Class new to History of Art and aim was to introduce them to a broad concept of periods in Art. Each student given books to research and find a visual from each period. Used book indexes to define periods. Information processing: printed out their images. Then made their own timelines integrating visuals and identifying historic periods. Great interaction within class, discussing images and info. Timelines wall mounted on school corridors. Very positive feedback. Led to extra-curricular interaction. Gave students great grasp of time sequence in art.
