Information Processing

C8 students had to prepare an exam question on a moral issue they have studied.

Each student was given a handout on abortion . They had to read the handout and pick out relevant points for their essay. They used graphic organisers for this task. Students were then divided into pairs and had to compare the points they chose. I then gave them a breakdown of what was needed for the question. Each student had to prepare their essay in point form under headings that were provided. At the end of the lesson they were given a marking scheme to see if they had included all the main points in their question.

Some of the students observed that they did not achieve full marks as some points included were not relevant. They thought it was a good learning exercise as they could see how the question was graded and what information was needed.
